CLOTHES: Men: “Blues Brothers” suits (Black pants, Black Jacket, White Shirt, Black Tie). Women: Black Dress or “Funeral Clothes”
COMPENSATION: Free Food, Hot Coffee, Thousands of THANK YOU’s, Autographed copy of the album when it’s released
RAIN DATE: Sunday, October 24th

We’re looking for help photographing the cover artwork for our Debut Album. IMPORTANT! PLEASE RSVP to thefieldrecordings@gmail.com to let us know you’re coming! Tell your friends! We need all the help we can get!

THE PHOTO:
The Photo will consist of dozens of young men & young women in Funeral Dress (Black Suits/white shirts/black ties for Men, Black dresses & the sundry other things we don’t even know the names of for Women), smiling & laughing while running through the park in a close procession on a sunny/blue day. The leader of the crowd will be waving a large white flag bearing the “Cultural Ouroboros“ symbol, 5 or 6 white “surrender” flags will be scattered amongst the crowd.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE PHOTO:
The name of the record (“THE ELASTIC NOSTALGIA”), we think, is a perfect label for the kind of corrosive white-washing/deification of our childhoods, coupled with the collective sense of unease about our particular future in the first of the Sci-Fi Decades (TWENTY-TEN). So, the album cover photo will sum up the title in one perfect image.

The general idea/Hobby Science Theory is that the “Cultural Ouroboros” flag at the front of the crowd symbolizes a generation running towards and surrendering to a future of Unoriginality. Acceptance of Cross-Promotion, Brand-Building, Acidic Boredom, Spiritual Exhaustion, the long life in the Post-Discovery world… ETC.”

What is this Tumblr for?

Now, it seems, bands/blogs/artists/ETC. have a “website”, a “serious blog” and then a “tumblr”. And apparently, the “tumblr” is where all the pictures of kittens wearing glasses and the videos of the unlocked Beethoven track in Guitar Hero 4 go.

The problem there, though, is that we’d better pick the RIGHT ke$ha mash-ups & YouTube videos of Seinfeld clips, otherwise we will lose the ACIDIC EDGE of our PERSONA and with that goes our CREDIBILITY.

(If you keep joining Social Networking Sites and no one Follows, will your real-life friends start second-guessing you?)

So, No: We do not know what this thing is for. It was started so we could post “demos” & “scraps” of “songs” for free (because our “serious website/blog” is a WordPressand in so being, requires “money” for such privilege), but now we have a SoundCloud Account, so this “tumblr” seems all the less useful.

But, let’s see if my forced social networking will work.

I’ve already included a “painting” by Andy Warhol that isn’t hard to “understand” because it’s 100+ canvases of JESUS CHRIST, who’s impact & mystery & obsession & heft is almost a Universal Condition Of Being…

Next, I suppose, I will mention an album I’m listening to today, and it should be tossed off with a casual maliciousness: “Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy).”

(So there: Andy Warhol AND Brian Eno). But I hear “Here Come The Warm Jets” is better.

And then I should put something about how I don’t know how to pronounce the word “(internet) meme” because that should endow my lyrics & our songs with a real “focus” on “real” things between disconnected “people.”

That’s it. Remember: We’re only as good as how much we’re reblogged.

But I should really go. I’m at work (posting from your work computer = TWITTERPUNX). I’ve also noticed that the Internet is where you put all of your life’s spelling errors.

Every “critique” like this should close with an admission of sickness about all this “irony”: OH! ALL THIS SELF-POLICED KNOWING! OH, ALL THIS OH-TEN SELF-AWARENESS!

A SHORT LIST OF THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING SOON

This Friday (June 4), we’re playing a Multiple Sclerosis Benefit at The Heirloom Arts Theater (link). We are a small part of a larger Whole: Total Dick feat. Cee Reed & Pruven, Arms & Legs, Zelazowa, Euri & Dave Ross, & Boss Derby are also playing. The DONATION is suggested to be $5. Everything begins at 8pm (Event Link).
Oil is touching most of our coastline & is headed for Florida.
While Johnny Montagnese searches us out a Record Contract, we are hoping to record something (a new single maybe?) to be released PHYSICALLY during this Summer, to tide you (& ourselves) over until the inevitable release of our Debut Album.
We will be playing JOHNNY HEAVEN’S 240 MINUTES IN HEAVEN Tiki Party at Cousin Larry’s Cafe (1 Elm Street, Danbury CT) in June—we just don’t know what day, yet. Stay tuned to www.myspace.com/subrosaparty to know for sure.
Does anyone else think that the Government should just liquidate BP and use all that money for repairs, once this thing is over?
